Anachronisms 

The popular variety-hall song "I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside" is performed at Lady Conyngham's party. This was composed in 1907, fifteen years after the film's 1892 setting.

Continuity 

(At 16:40) Holmes closes the door in a closeup shot smoking his pipe. As the camera cuts to a wide shot the pipe is gone.

Spoilers 

The goof below may give away important plot points.

Anachronisms 

Moriarty proceeds to steal the jewels from the Crown of Edward the Confessor from behind the bars in the Tower of London. However, until 1911 there were no jewels permanently attached to the Crown - they were "hired" for each coronation and then removed.
