- Pomeroy is after McClure's rodeo contract. Gene is McClure's foreman and suspects Pomeroy is behind the accidents occurring. Gene's plan to trap Pomeroy by using Frog's recording machine backfires when Gene is accused of the murder committed by Pomeroy. - Gene Autry (Gene Autry) is the foremen of a ranch owned by Maureen McClune (Peggy Moran) on which is being held the annual Frontier Week rodeo celebration. Nightclub owner Jack Pomerory (LeRoy Mason) owning a rival ranch is anxious to get contract for the next year's rodeo, and he has his legion of henchmen stage some "accidents" to make the current event a failure. A stagecoach race, with drivers representing three ranches, is to be run to determine which ranch gets the contract. While it is being run, Gene's sidekick Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) operates a device he invented to get a secret recording of conversation between the crooks which trips them up.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
