Nice Touches In Otherwise Uninteresting Mystery Story
lchadbou-326-265924 February 2021
Personal Secretary is a pleasant enough hour long Universal programmer with enough interesting bits to compensate for the fact that the mystery story it revolves around isn't very involving. Joy Hodges is not bad as a news reporter who relies on astrology, gets a secretary job and later puts on glasses and pretends to be a census taker to get information. Ruth Donnelly offers her valuable wisecracking support as "Grumpy" and this is one of the low budget Universals that ace cinematographer Stanley Cortez shot so there is some visual interest. The revelation as to who committed the murder is admittedly pretty nifty.
