slightly slow but good

Lets get one thing straight . La Jana is not the star of this picture. She has no lines at all. She just dances in the musical sequences. This is a musical revue set out to make fun of the film industry of Germany or may be Hollywood. One of the scenes were dailies are being shown is a musical number involving a male dancer dressed up in western costume tap dancing on a large western hat and chorus girls around the brim dress up in Mexican out fits. It's obviously the studio was making a western German style. It all take place in the studio that made the movie ,Tobis. So you get to see how the German film industry was in 1938. This musical contains appearances from famous German actors of that period. Albrecht Schoenals, Tango Nocturrno n Masurka,Grethe Wieser,Hans Schonker, the actor who would later play Marika Rokks theatrical director in,"Women of my dreams,Anny Ondra and Max Schmelling,Paul Horbinger, Paul Hartmann,Hans Moser,Theo Ligens Hilde Hildebant. Although it was claimed that Sybil Schmitt was in it to ,I didn't see her. The plot, Mathidle Burk,a secretary wants to go to Berlin to become a movie star, played by Carla Rust. As she goes you start seeing montage of Berlin with everyone singing, "Berlin. One of the scenes you see people on the side walk singing while for a couple of second you see soldier marching on the streets with Nazi uniforms then the camera quickly moves away from it. You discover it was a daily from one of their films. She goes in the office and tells Rudi Godden, one of the heads of the studio heads, that she want to get into movies he then jumps on her and tells her how difficult it is to become a star. She ends up doing extra work. she rooms with another hopeful , Carla Walton, played By Vera Bergmann, who has a boy friend who does extra work who is an aspiring song writer. It turns out they are looking for a new fresh actress who can do a role in their new film. Involving a song so with the help of Vera boy friend both practice the song in the piano. But it turns out that Vera and not Mathtilda gets the role. Mathilda stays an extra while Carla becomes a star. soon her boyfriend creates a hit song and becomes successful. But as fame goes the director becomes interested in her and the song writer becomes jealous and ends up in fight a technician becomes interested in Mathilde and soon they get together being invited by Rudie Godden for supper with his wife and kids. Thye musical numbers are good but the movie is a little slow
