Four years after this film Eddie Albert would join the U.S. Navy. He would achieve the rank of Lieutenant in the Naval reserves. At Tarawa he would go on to save nearly 50 marines and help with the rescue of 30 others, all while under fire. He received the Bronze Star for his actions.
The play opened on Broadway in New York City, New York, USA on 16 December 1936 and closed in May 1938 after 577 performances. Eddie Albert originated his movie role as Bing Edwards in the play. The opening night cast also included Frank Albertson as Billy Randolph, Wyn Cahoon as Joyce Winfree, José Ferrer as Dan Crawford and Ezra Stone as Misto Bottome.
