When the George turns the light on, he pushes the bottom button, which pushes the top button out, knocking him off. The top button bounces back in, but the light stays on. That type of switch is designed such that pushing one button in pushes the other button out, which is supposed to stay out until it is pushed back in, which pushes the first button out. When one button is in, the light is on, when the other button is in, the light is off. For the switch shown, at the beginning, the bottom button (light colored center) is out and the top button (dark colored center) is in, and the light is off, as it should be. After the top button bounces back in, the light should have turned off.
