Death Race 2

I’m not much of a fan of  films that are sequels but are actually prequels, this is one of those movies. This film is overly campy and much like the first film in the series, it’s poorly written. Not much more to say about this film other then it was complete and utter trash.

Bambi: Diamond Edition

Bambi much like every other Disney blu-ray release before it looks astoundingly beautiful on blu-ray. The restoration process that was completed on this film from 1942 makes it »

Review: Bambi - Diamond Edition

7 March 2011 10:20 PM, PST | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

I'll have to come clean and admit something: as a child I never watched Bambi. My head and heart were captured by outer space and Star Wars, and the cartoons I grew up watching were old Looney Tunes and Woody Woodpecker shows. Instead of crying over that most infamous of moments in Bambi (and if you don't know what I'm talking about, then I won't be the one to spoil you now), I cried over Bruce Dern blowing up the Valley Forge at the end of Silent Running.

It was only later in life, as a teenager, that I started understanding the legacy of the old school Disney animated films. By the time I caught Dumbo on television, I knew all about the scene where his mother could only caress her baby elephant through the bars of her cage -- but that didn't stop the gravity of that scene from playing out with my emotions. »

Bambi Diamond Edition Blu-Ray Review

1 March 2011 11:18 AM, PST | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

I can hardly imagine what I could tell you about Bambi at this point, but the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray is available today, and there's quite a bit I can tell you about that. Disney has already won me over with their previous releases in this collection, and Bambi is no exception. The release doesn't quite jump out at you the way the others did, because a quick glance at the back cover doesn't make it seem like it's as loaded with new content, but believe me when I tell you that this is a release you need to own.

Bambi does not particularly lend itself to "flash and sizzle," and the truly massive restoration of the film (9,000+ hours of it) already happened. Sure, there's "newly enhanced digital restoration," with better picture and sound, but, it's Bambi. An impossibly clear picture of broad brush strokes and a general lack of intricate »

Blu-ray Review

Bambi

Directed by: James Algar, Sam Armstrong, David Hand, Graham Heid, Bill Roberts, Paul Satterfield, Norman Wright

Cast: Hardie Alright, Stan Alexander, Bobette Audry

Running Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Rating: G

Due Out: March 1, 2011

Plot: Bambi follows a young deer and several of his forest friends. Together his friends, Thumper and Flower, as well as his mother teach him about life in the forest.

Who’S It For? Children. Hopefully with their short attention span, the fact that Bambi has no actual plot will be lost on them. Hardcore Disney fans will be glad to see this beautiful transfer, but may be disappointed in the film since its childlike wonder has worn off.

Movie:

Bambi is one of those movies that, unfortunately, time has not been kind to. I remember watching it when I was a kid and being fascinated by the deer and his friends, but years later? »
