A preposterous view of political Intrigue where the mayor wins by default.

Warning: Spoilers
There's one very funny moments in this entry in The Jones Family series when Jed Prouty announces to the family that he's going to run for mayor, the youngest son asks him if they are going to live in a stable. Well the political horse race begins when the incumbent mayor (Joe King) becomes involved in political scandal and Prouty and his family, led by one of the younger sons who has their own little newspaper, set out to expose it, resulting in one of the older son's being arrested for a crime they did not commit.

Even though this is a small town election, there is something fishy about the way that it is dramatized, and certainly, the constituents for either mayor candidate wood push for an investigation. Among the elements that are questionable includes of victim of a crime blamed on the son who is seemingly paralyzed and forced to hop out of their hospital bed, a scene where the son rushes through the town trying to get his teeny little newspaper back, and the speech that King gives at the end that is suddenly interrupted. The best moment in this film involves a dream that Prouty has where the entire family is locked up on corruption charges. It's unfortunate that the creativity of that dream sequence is into utilized in the remainder of the film.
