Trivia

Bette and Joan Crawford were cast in Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte by Robert Aldrich in the hope of repeating the success of Baby Jane. Bette got a producers credit and conspired to make things difficult for Joan who eventually pretended to be too ill to work causing production to be delayed resulting in her being dropped and replaced by Olivia De Haviland. Joan only discovered the news on the radio after it had been leaked to the press, allegedly by Bette. See more »

Quotes

Don Bellows: Last night I'm sorry I kissed you and said the things I did.
Joyce Heath: How very gallant of you to say so.
Don Bellows: No, you don't understand. You see, I'm engaged to someone.
Joyce Heath: And you blame me?
Don Bellows: No, it was unfair to you too. You're so very... fascinating. I think it was that, the storm and our nearness that made me lose my senses. Well, I got them back this morning and I'm asking you to forgive me and for what I'm saying now, if I hurt you.
Joyce Heath: Hurt me?
[laughs]
Joyce Heath: You delight me! You have the most amazing lack of humor ...

A very fast and enjoyable, early Bette Davis movie. She won her first Academy Award nomination and win for this movie, many believe for being overlooked the previous year for her performance in Of Human Bondage. I've seen both and happen to think that the Bondage performance is very overdone (as much as I love her she over acts often) and this performance in Dangerous is deeper and more reserved and yet is still just as riveting, with plenty of scenes for Davis to rip into. Definately worth checking out.
