Parts of the Max Fleischer Screen Song Aloha Oe survives and that part was pretty charming
31 July 2009 | by (Baton Rouge, LA) – See all my reviews

Just watched part of this Max Flesicher Screen Song cartoon on the Uncle John's Crazy Town site. I say part because according to Uncle John, the live-action segments with the Royal Samoans are missing and presumed lost. What is available is some pretty entertaining dances like a lion wearing a hula that becomes his hair, a couple of snakes that swallow some big rocks and become maracas, some birds jumping on a branch, and another animal eating a giant cake with candles which he then spits out which lands in a box of firecrackers...Oh, just watch the 3 minutes that remains of this cartoon on the site I just mentioned and marvel at the unique Fleischer humor that was allowed to flower before the Production Code took some of that charm away. So on that note, I recommend Aloha Oe and I hope the rest of it is found real soon.
