Doctor Strange Poster Has the World Turned Upside Down

8 September 2016 12:30 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Marvel unveiled a new Doctor Strange poster today, that shows how "self-centered" the good Doctor really is. The poster shows how the Sorcerer Supreme can literally turn the world upside down, and make the entire world center around him, with world landmarks such as New York's Freedom Tower and the London Bridge seen in the background. We'll have to wait and see if these world-bending powers will be put on display in the movie itself when it hits theaters this November.

Marvel's Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts »

Doctor Strange Video Asks You to Open Your Mind

30 August 2016 2:50 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Two years ago, Marvel Studios introduced fans to the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Guardians of the Galaxy, which went on to be one of the biggest movies of 2014, despite being based on a rather obscure comic book. This year, the Marvel Phase 3 lineup continues with an introduction to the mystical and magical corner of the McU with Doctor Strange, hitting theaters nationwide November 4. Today we have a new preview that goes behind-the-scenes of Doctor Strange, and offers more details on how Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo fits into the story.

This new preview, which debuted on Marvel's YouTube, features plenty of behind-the-scenes footage along with interviews with executive producer Stephen Broussard and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who reveals that his character Baron Mordo is "instrumental" in Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) being introduced to this universe, since he is "close" to The Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton. We also hear from Tilda Swinton, »

Doctor Strange Gets Rated PG-13 for Galactic Intensity and Psychotropic Violence

15 August 2016 4:16 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Every week, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) hands out new ratings for their upcoming movies. While most of the time, MPAA ratings aren't necessarily big news, they can be when it comes to superhero movies like Doctor Strange. Over the weekend, director Scott Derrickson unveiled the movie's rating, supposedly before the MPAA made it official.

On Friday night, director Scott Derrickson posted an unusual message on Twitter, revealing that Doctor Strange was rated PG-13 for "kaleidoscopic galactic intensity and other dimensional psychotropic violence." The MPAA normally includes a brief explanation for each rating, but it doesn't seem likely that this would represent their stance on the movie, especially since they haven't confirmed the rating yet. Still, the news that this McU movie is PG-13 shouldn't be too surprising, especially since every McU movie has been PG-13.

The director's tweet was also posted in quite the unusual manner, entirely upside down, »

Get your Eye of Agamoto ready and put on your Cloak of Levitation, because Marvel has dropped a brand new TV trailer for Doctor Strange! Disney seems to be capitalizing on the fact that they eyes of the world are all focused on the Olympics in Rio right now. That being the case, they studio has taken the opportunity to release a 1-minute long TV spot for Doctor Strange, which is hitting theaters in a few short months.

The TV spot first aired during the Olympics broadcast on Tuesday morning, and has since made its way onto Twitter and YouTube. Unfortunately, there isn't any new footage to speak of in the new Doctor Strange spot, but it is a really action packed minute and gives a great sense of what the movie is going to be. This comes only a few days after Cinemark released a 30-second TV spot for Doctor Strange, »

Mike Cecchini Aug 9, 2016

Our Us chums took a close look at Marvel's Luke Cage trailer looking for bits of Marvel Comics history and clues about the show's future!

After that cool Sdcc teaser, Marvel's Luke Cage Netflix series finally unveiled a full length trailer to give everyone a better idea of what's in store when it arrives in September.

Here it is in case you haven't seen it yet:

Video of Luke Cage - Main Trailer - Only on Netflix September 30 [HD]

Please note, that I'm not going in order or frame by frame to describe stuff that you're seeing. This is mostly in any order that makes sense to me.

Also, the song that plays over roughly the first half of this trailer is "Walk on By" from Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul album. There is honestly not a better album you could spend the rest of your day listening to. »

First Doctor Strange TV Spot Enters a New Marvel Reality

6 August 2016 12:46 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It hasn't been that long since Marvel and Disney bestowed us with new footage from Doctor Strange, showing off the full-length trailer at Comic-Con. Today, we get the first TV spot, which teases a new reality for the Marvel Universe. This is basically a truncated version of the latest trailer, but its edited in a quick and flashy way that should captivate audiences who fell in love with Christopher Nolan's Inception, as some of the visuals recall that sci-fi classic.

In this breezy thirty second preview, we get to see Doctor Stephen Strange in his early days as a cocky young surgeon who thinks he knows everything. This is before an accident renders his hands useless. We hear the Ancient One schooling Strange on how the world works, which Stephen truly knows nothing about. He is soon shown that the reality he knows is just one of many. At first, »

Can Marvel's Foggy Nelson and She-Hulk get their own Netflix show, please?

3 August 2016 3:18 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

In September, Marvel’s Luke Cage gets his own show on Netflix. Since the small-screen heroes of the McU have a tendency to overlap, there’s a good chance Iron Fist will make a guest appearance before his own show airs sometime in 2017. Then, once all the players are on the stage, The Defenders will bring it all together with a street-level version of The Avengers in late 2017. Right now, all we know for sure is Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will make up the team. One can assume other non-hero players, like Rosario Dawson’s Night Nurse, will also be along for the ride. But Marvel and Netflix haven’t confirmed any casting yet. A lack of official announcements can’t keep actors from talking, though. As reported by /Film, Elden Henson allegedly let it slip that he »

Doctor Strange Writer Reveals Why Ancient One Isn't Chinese

Just two weeks ago, Marvel unveiled the first trailer for the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, which gave us our first full look at The Ancient One, played by Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton. The footage, paired with the first look at Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell, sparked a new "whitewashing" controversy, with several fans upset that both movies cast caucasian females for roles that, in the source materials for both movies, were ethnic characters. Last week, Tilda Swinton herself spoke out about the casting controversy, revealing that she was never approached to play an Asian character, but now we have a new perspective from one of Doctor Strange's writers.

C. Robert Cargill, who co-wrote the script with his longtime collaborator and Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson and Jon Spaihts, recently appeared on the Youtube podcast Double Toasted, where he shared his thoughts about the casting controversy. The writer compared »
