Trivia

One of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929 and 1949, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since. Its initial television broadcast took place in Chicago Tuesday 3 February 1959 on WBBM (Channel 2), followed by Omaha 13 February 1959 on KETV (Channel 7), by Seattle 21 June 1959 on KIRO (Channel 7), by Grand Rapids 28 October 1959 on WOOD (Channel 8), by Pittsburgh 29 October 1959 on KDKA (Channel 2), by Phoenix 1 November 1959 on KVAR (Channel 12), by Milwaukee 6 November 1959 on WITI (Channel 6), by Detroit 5 December 1959 on WJBK (Channel 2), and by Minneapolis 19 December 1959 on WTCN (Channel 11).. At this time, color broadcasting was in its infancy, limited to only a small number of high rated programs, primarily on NBC and NBC affiliated stations, so these film showings were all still in B&W. Viewers were not offered the opportunity to see these films in their original Technicolor until several years later. It was released on DVD 9 December 2014 as part of the Universal Vault Series. Great Action Film
5 February 1999 | by (San Rafael, California) – See all my reviews

I agree with your other viewers--a very well made action film. I saw this when I was 8 years old and loved it--even though some of the crash scenes were scary. I did see it on TV once, perhaps 10 or 15 years ago, so I think the negative still exists. AMC should be encouraged to broadcast it.
