Trivia

For years, only the visual elements of this film survived. Several years ago, the complete soundtrack turned up, believed to be on discs. After a restoration, one complete print of the film was struck from the "married" elements. This film has been shown by the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, but has not been made available commercially. Consensus among Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts who have seen the film is that it is far from a rediscovered classic, and basically should be viewed by completists only. Robert Rendel is said to be one of the most un-Canonical Holmeses in cinema history, possibly due to his diminutive stature. See more »

Sherlock Holmes: The second highest--but who's the first?
Dr Mortimer: Well I've read of a Frenchman who--who--
Sherlock Holmes: Then why not consult him.
