Storyline

Norma Besant, daughter of a Southern doctor, is an incorrigible flirt and has many boys on her string. She begins to favor Michael Jeffrey, who, shiftless and hot-tempered but fundamentally honorable, is warned off by her father. When Michael returns after a long absence, the pair are innocently compromised, and Dr. Besant's old-South paternal rage brings tragedy. Written by Rod Crawford <puffinus@u.washington.edu>

Worth Watching!
11 December 2005 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Mary Pickford did not win the 1930 Academy Award for this film for no reason. Contrary to the previous comment this film is wonderfully portrayed by the actress who, with no previous knowledge of how old she was to weigh me down, seemed wonderful as 'Norma.' Although not directly pertinent now, the issues dealt with in this film are issues that people at the present time would still understand and should- without a doubt- understand after watching the film. The previous commenter must not understand human nature if she/he could not comprehend the beauty in this film. This film made me realize that too many films now focus on materialism instead of love and compassion.
