Storyline

Millionaire Joshua Barker insists that his daughter, Faith, must marry Phil Langhorne, a man that neither likes, and Faith is in love with and eager to marry her childhood sweetheart, John Temple. Mary sets out to investigate what hold Langhorne might have on her father. The search takes her to an island during a fierce sea-storm on a dark and windy night, and the sentinel light in the light-house suddenly goes out, and the family yacht is about to crash upon the great rocks of the island. After the Fog (1929) -- Lost
31 July 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Hoping to continue his family tradition of caring for the Sentinel Light, Joshua Barker ( Russell Simpson ) suggests that his daughter, Faith ( Mary Philbin ), marry Bill Reynolds ( Joseph Bennett ), a local fisherman. Faith, on the other hand, hates the lighthouse and longs for pretty things and bright lights. Soon after she rebuffs Bill's shy proposal, John Temple's ( Edmund Burns ) yacht stops at the lighthouse, and there is an instant and obvious attraction between John and Faith, to the annoyance of both her father and Winifred Blake ( Carmelita Geraghty ). Over Joshua's violent objections Faith soon marries John, and family strife and news of John's slipping into his old ways cause Faith's mother, Letitia ( Margaret Seddon ), to grieve, languish, and die. Losing his grip on reason. Joshua attacks Faith with an axe, she shoots him, and with this shock come remorse and a happy reconciliation among father, daughter, and son-in-law.

This 1929 drama was produced by Beacon Productions and starred Mary Philbin. Sadly it now remains a lost film.
