User Reviews

Effective silent adaptation of prison drama.

There is not much to say about this relatively short late silent. It is an adaptation of a play and is somewhat stagey. It has been many years since I managed to see it - it exists as an archive print minus the main title at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. It had an effective use of lighting and contains a strong performance by matinee idol, Richard Barthelmess, which garnered an Academy Award nomination. The plot did not impress enough to remain in my memory. A curio, at best.
