The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come (1928) - Unknown ?
9 September 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Important note: This is not a film review. I hope to be able to find and add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist and some presumed lost films are still being discovered. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.

Chad ( Richard Barthelmess ), an orphan born in Kentucky, is adopted by Major Buford ( Claude Gillingwater ), who conceals his belief that the boy is his nephew. Chad is sent to school in Lexington, and when the Civil War breaks out he joins the Union Army, losing his foster father's affection along with that of Margaret Dean ( Doris Dawson ), his sweetheart back home. Chad, now a captain, finds that his duty takes him to the town of his birth. There he rediscovers Melissa Turner ( Molly O'Day ), his childhood sweetheart, and falls in love with her again. The war's end finds Major Buford dead. Offered the major's estate if he will return to the Bluegrass region, Chad declines, preferring to remain with Melissa.

This 1928 silent drama was based on from the novel The Little Shepherd by John William Fox Jr., produced by First National Pictures, starring Richard Barthelmess and Molly O'Day. The film was initially presented under the title Kentucky Courage. The survival status of The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come (1928) is listed in the American Silent Feature Film Database as; No holdings located in archives.
