Trivia:
In September 1928, Warner Bros. Pictures purchased a majority interest in First National Pictures and from that point on, all "First National" productions were actually made under Warner Bros. control, even though the two companies continued to retain separate identities until the mid-1930's, after which time "A Warner Bros.-First National Picture" was often used.See more »

Dorothy Mackaill a stand-out in part-talkie version of famous play., 3 April 2000

Although it was Betty Compson who was given a Best Actress Oscar nom for her role in this film, it was fellow actress Dorothy Mackaill who really deserved it. Her performance was fiery and full of emotion, leaving a much more vivid impression than that of Ms. Compson. This is a silent with talking sequences.
