Did You Know?

When producer Irving Thalberg saw the initial print of the film, he berated director Viktor Tourjansky for making what he called a western satire instead of the straight western it was supposed to be. Tourjansky replied that the original script was "idiotic" and told Thalberg that he had originally told Tourjansky it should be a comedy anyway, so he (Tourjansky) turned it into a spoof of Hollywod westerns. The two got into a heated argument, Tourjansky got angry and walked off the picture. Thalberg brought in director W.S. Van Dyke to replace him. Van Dyke wound up reshooting almost all of the film. The Adventurer (1928) - Lost ?
13 August 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

It is my ambition to add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.

American mining engineer Jim McClellan ( Tim McCoy ) is in love with Dolores de Silva ( Dorothy Sebastian ), daughter of the deposed president of a Latin American country. He becomes involved in the revolution when he attempts to help the president regain power. After many dangerous adventures, including a narrow escape from a rebel firing squad, McClellan succeeds in restoring Silva to office and winning the girl.

This 1928 action/adventure silent film was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, starring Tim McCoy. Sadly, The Adventurer is listed as a lost silent film.
