Monte Carroll ( Walter Pidgeon ), while visiting a French province, falls in love with Helene ( Alma Rubens ), an American, whom he believes to be a simple country girl. After returning with her to Paris, he comes to scorn her when he finds she has stolen some of his valuable papers. Determined to get revenge, Helene promises to marry her employer, Sir Humphrey ( Holmes Herbert ), if he will, like the stepfather of Salome of old, take the life of her former lover. She gloats over his predicament as he is manacled and imprisoned in a dungeon; but ultimately she experiences a change of heart, saves him, and effects a reconciliation.
This 1927 silent drama/romance was based on the novel The Heart of Salome by Allen Raymond, produced by the Fox Film Corporation, starring Alma Rubens and Walter Pidgeon. The survival status of Heart of Salome is sadly now listed as unknown.
