The Winning Of Barbara Worth
boblipton17 May 2021
Reginald Denny is cruising along the highway when he gets into a crash, Oil magnate Claude Gillingwater and his daughter, Barbara Worth stop, and Denny is instantly in love. He's also terrified of automobiles. When he gets out to California, he goes to see Miss Worth, and through the usual comic misunderstandings, they think he is a champion race car driver and he doesn't dare correct them. They want him to drive the car they have entered in a cross-country race.

It's a typically funny Reginald Denny vehicle -- no pun intended -- with him playing an American flawlessly; he could do that until sound revealed his Englis accent. There are lots of of funny bits, and it is a very funny movie.

Miss Worth entered the movies in 19923, and like many a silent actress, her roles declined with the coming of sound. She switched to writing and had three screenplay credits in the 1940s, before she died at 49 in 1955.
