Looking for Trouble (1926) - Unknown ?
15 September 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Important note: This is not a film review. I hope to be able to find and add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist and some presumed lost films are still being discovered. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.

Jasper Murchison ( J. Gordon Russell ) operates a small-town newspaper in Texas as a front for jewel smuggling. He publishes a scandalous notice about Tulip Hellier ( Marceline Day ) and Phil Curtis ( Edmund Cobb ), a young easterner employed on the Hellier ranch. Jack Pepper ( Jack Hoxie ), known as "Don Quickshot," forces Murchison to retract the story, and during their confrontation a gun is accidentally fired; Murchison tells the sheriff that Jack tried to kill him, and Jack becomes a hunted man. Hiding on the Hellier ranch, Jack discovers that Lou Burkhold ( Bud Osborne ), ostensibly bootlegging, is smuggling diamonds in league with Murchison; also that he is keeping Laura ( Peggy Montgomery ), his daughter, from her husband, Phil ( Edmund Cobb ), so as to involve her in the conspiracy. Jack accuses Murchison of treachery and fraud, brings about the arrest of the gang, and wins the heart of Tulip.

This 1926 western/drama was produced by the Universal Pictures Corporation, starring Jack Hoxie. The survival status of Looking for Trouble (1926) is listed in the American Silent Feature Film Database as; No holdings located in archives.
