Barnaby Powers ( William Powell ) divorces his wife, Richmiel, ( Seena
Owen ) after a tumultuous six years of marriage. She takes their young
son, Oliver ( Dick Brandon ), with her and returns home. Barnaby soon
follows after her to ask for possession of the child and falls in love
with Ledda ( Alyce Mills ), Richmiel's compassionate cousin. Richmiel
at first agrees to give up the child but spitefully changes her mind
when she discovers that Barnaby and Ledda are in love. Oliver almost
dies in an accident, however, and the neglectful Richmiel, who wants to
go off with a new lover, finally agrees to give up the young child to
the care of his father, Barnaby and the loving Ledda.
This silent drama was based on the novel Faint Perfume by Zona Gale and produced by B.P. Schulberg Productions, it was distributed by the Paramount Pictures Corporation. It was William Powell's ninth silent film and sadly now is considered lost.
