A copy (nitrate projection print) of the film was found in a somewhat compromised state in South Africa. It was repatriated through the American Film Institute to the Library of Congress. Heavy scratches on the print were minimized in the 2003 preservation on the film.
One of the 50 films in the 3-disk boxed DVD set called "More Treasures from American Film Archives, 1894-1931" (2004), compiled by the National Film Preservation Foundation from 5 American film archives. This film is preserved by the Library of Congress, has a running time of 74 minutes and an added piano music score.
DVD reproduction of the film was copied at 22 frames per second from the 35 mm print preserved and free (mostly) of scratches by the Library of Congress (AFI/National Film Board of South Africa Collection. The print is a total of 7 reels long.
The $100 offered for Lobo's hide would be equivalent to over $1700 in 2023.
