Her Love Story (1924) - Lost
24 April 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Princess Marie ( Gloria Swanson ) of the Balkan kingdom of Viatavia falls in love with Captain Rudi ( Ian Keith ) of the King's Guards, though her father arranges her marriage with the king ( Echlin Gayer ) of a neighbouring country. Although Marie and Rudi are secretly wed by a Gypsy, the duke ignores the marriage and exiles Rudi. When a child is born to Marie, she declares to the king that it is Rudi's and is thereafter banished to a convent; however, Rudi returns and helps Marie retrieve her child from the palace, and they find happiness in another land.

This 1924 silent drama was based from the short story "Her Majesty, the Queen" by Mary Roberts Rinehart, produced by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, filmed at Paramount's Astoria Studios on Long Island, New York, starring Gloria Swanson. Sadly, Her Love Story now remains a lost silent film.
