The Buccaneers is a slightly underwhelming Our Gang short but it still has its moments, 22 September 2014
Author: tavm from Baton Rouge, La.

This Hal Roach comedy short, The Buccaneers, is the twenty-fourth in the "Our Gang/Little Rascals" series. In this one, the boys play pirates. Mary wants to join but the other male members-other than Mickey-won't let her so Mickey has her put on a disguise. When Ernie and Farina arrive, they're also invited to join though Ernie has to walk the plank first. When their ship finally sails, it sinks but Mary gets invited from an adult superior to go on his boat as the others join her...There's not too much that's funny here though it's nice to see them running around in various decks. Joe has a running gag of chewing and spitting tobacco (with the punchline the close-up of the spitting target) that gets really funny when he does it again after a man commands the ship to be cleaned all over! So on that note, The Buccaneers is at the least worth a look.
