Three Jumps Ahead (1923) - Lost Silent
5 August 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Steve McLean ( Tom Mix ) and his uncle are captured by outlaws and taken to a hideout where they meet John Darrell ( Joe Girard ), who has been a captive for two years. Darrell escapes, and the gang leader promises McLean his freedom if he will bring Darrell back. McLean agrees and meets Ann ( Alma Bennett ), with whom he falls in love. He captures Darrell and returns him to the outlaws. He then learns that Darrell is Ann's father, and he sets out to rescue him.

This 1923 silent western was directed by John Ford and produced by the Fox Film Corporation. Filming on locations in Beale's Cut, Newhall, California and starring Tom Mix, sadly, Three Jumps Ahead now remains a lost silent film.
