Nobody's Money (1923) --- Lost Silent ?
8 August 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

John Webster ( Jack Holt ), lumber mill owner in the guise of a book agent, agrees to pose as Douglas Roberts, the pseudonym of Carl Russell ( Robert Schable ) and Frank Carey ( Walter McGrail ), to shield them from income tax agents. He falls in love with Governor Kendall's ( Charles Clary ) daughter, Grace ( Wanda Hawley ), and successfully manages the governor's re-election campaign. Meanwhile, Webster's friend, Eddie Maloney ( Harry Depp ), foils Briscoe's ( Will R. Walling ) efforts to plant a bribe in the governor's safe by stealing the money, which nobody will claim. Webster discloses his identity and marries Grace.

This 1923 silent comedy was based on the play Nobody's Money by William Le Baron. Produced by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, starring Jack Holt and Wanda Hawley, sadly this film may now be a lost silent.
