A Sad Loss For Silent Cinema
17 June 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

John Percival Billings ( Walter Hiers ) works as an department store clerk and his favourite hobby is reading romance novels. He falls in love with Suzanna Juárez ( Jacqueline Logan ) after seeing her picture on a cigar band. He decides to buy a cigar with the lucky dime he received from a customer and thereby obtains information that he sells to some conspirators. Hence, with the money he received, John travels to Santo Dinero and meets Suzanna, whose father, President Estaban Juárez ( Joseph Swickard ), is struggling to avert a revolution. Ultimately, John is the means of saving the government and wins his dream girl, Suzanna.

This 1923 silent comedy was produced by Famous Players-Lasky Corporation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Featuring the beautiful actress Jacqueline Logan, it sadly now remains a lost film.
