Gerrit is persuaded to visit Nettie, and he confesses his true love for her. Dope addict Edward Dunsack ( Raymond Hatton ) reveals this to Taou Yuen, whereupon she takes an overdose of opium and dies. Gerrit and Nettie marry and sail away.
