April Showers (1923) - Lost Silent
28 February 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Danny O'Rourke ( Kenneth Harlan ), the son of an Irish-American policeman who dies a hero, is training to join the force. His sweetheart, Maggie Muldoon ( Colleen Moore ), is the daughter of a police lieutenant. When society girl Miriam Welton ( Ruth Clifford ) arrives in their slum neighborhood to do social work, she nearly causes a split between the two lovers. Danny takes his final examination and thinks he has failed. At the same time, Danny's sister Shannon ( Priscilla Bonner ) is caught shoplifting. Danny enters a prizefighting contest to raise money to save his sister. He loses the fight but discovers that an error in the scoring of his examination makes him eligible to join the police force.

This 1923 romance/drama was produced by B.P. Schulberg Productions and starred Colleen Moore. Sadly the survival status of April Showers is listed as unknown, suggesting it may now be a lost silent film.
