Hungry for success: Six reasons graduates need to watch and learn from Chef...

With a personality as flavourful as his career, Jon Favreau has been a firm favourite for as long as I can remember. The 47 year old actor-turned-director was the saving grace of Couples Retreat; added light relief whilst leveling the overall tone in the Iron Man series (which he both acted in and produced); and has harked back to his indie roots in his latest release, Chef.

So, when Shadowlocked was offered time with the iconic actor/director/producer, you’d of been hard pushed to find someone with more of a genuine passion for an interview. Unfortunately though, the PR in question didn’t agree.

Perhaps there were hungrier, more delicious invites for Mr. Favreau, or maybe it was decided that our entree sized application wasn’t worthy of the films mighty appetite. Whatever the case we missed out...and to this day I’m upset.

Muirhouse (2012) Film Review

8 March 2014 8:07 PM, PST | MoreHorror | See recent MoreHorror news »

by Jesse Miller, MoreHorror.com

Behold Monte Cristo – apparently Australia’s most haunted household and with its violent and grim history that stains it’s very walls, could you really blame it if it was haunted?

Author Phillip Muirhouse (Ian P.F McDonald) certainly wouldn’t blame it – in fact, he’s stopping by the place overnight to shoot a documentary on the hauntings to accompany his latest book on haunted areas and as you accompany him for the journey, you’ll find out just how haunted this household really is.

Muirhouse moves at a slow pace, letting the audience know the world, the history of the house, the characters and so forth.

Save for the actual horrific history of the house, there’s a lot of story here for you to chew on, as character development is thin and all you need to know is that guy investigates house. »

Ghosts always catch people’s interest whether it be a “live investigation” or the latest found footage horror film that promises to be the scariest thing you’ve ever seen.  Muirhouse is a movie based on what is said to be one of the most haunted houses in Australia, and yes it features people walking around a house with cameras pickup up all the “footage” that takes place.

Set in 2007 author Phillip Muirhouse takes part in an investigation into the infamous Monte Cristo homestead, said to be one of the most haunted places in Australia.  Agreeing to meet up with a group of investigators to take part in the investigation he breaks the number one rule of ghost hunting, never be alone.

Muirhouse DVD Review

6 February 2014 2:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Director: Tanzeal Rahim,

Starring: Iain P.F. McDonald, Kate Henderson, Steve Lynch, Libby Ashby,

 Running Time: 75  Minutes

Certificate: 15

Muirhouse may be another addition to the ever increasing found-footage genre, but it has the distinction of being set in an actual haunted house. Well, that’s if you believe in haunting and the paranormal in the first place. This obviously gives the film a huge boost in intensity and scares as you could actually see some real ghostly action, although it’s still probably all set-up.

Starting with the arrest of novelist Phillip Muirhouse (McDonald), we then travel back and explore his recordings from the previous night, which he happened to spend in one of Australia’s most haunted locations, Monte Cristo house, as publicity for an upcoming book. The film begins with interviews and footage from many different sources, before settling down as we see the footage from Muirhouse’s evening. »
