Balzac story as the basis for Norma Talmadge film

Balzac was rarely translated to the screen in silent days - most notably in THE CONQUERING POWER, an adaptation of EUGENIE GRANDET. This adaptation of LA DUCHESSE DE LANGLAIS involves a flirtation Duchess who goes after a man who won't be trifled with. The film exists only partially - at the Library of Congress (reels 1,2,4-7). The above information was gleaned from Greta de Groat's website on Norma Talmadge.
