Money doesn't buy happiness. With "Bones" featuring a rich man's daughter seemingly kidnapped and murdered, plus Hodgins finding out he has an institutionalized and schizophrenic brother, that may be the theme of "The Heiress on the Hill."
You think your family is dysfunctional?
The victim of the week, Lauren Frank, comes from a highly dysfunctional family. Although she lived with her father and stepmother in a crazy nice mansion, Lauren was angry at everyone, especially her stepmother.
How did she deal with this? The young woman faked her own kidnapping -- complete with the removal of her own toe -- in order to get ransom money out of her parents and escape to South America with her boyfriend. Unfortunately for Lauren, she cut the toe with rusty clippers and contracted tetanus. Her accomplice -- the family's dog walker who thought Lauren was in love with him -- tried to save the young woman with penicillin. »
"Bones" likes to surprise its characters and audience with unexpected family members. In "The Heiress on the Hill," however, the show's world may get the biggest surprise of them all: Dr. Jack Hodgins has a brother.
That's big news for any long-term fan of "Bones." It was established very early in the series that Hodgins (Tj Thyne) was the sole heir and last surviving member of an incredibly wealthy family. An occasional distant cousin was mentioned after that, but the fact that Hodgins had no family was set. It became an integral part of the character.
Well, according to photos and spoilers for "The Heiress on the Hill," this isn't quite correct. Hodgins instead has a long-lost brother. The man somehow appears in the course of investigating a kidnapping -- which turns into a murder -- and it soon becomes clear that this brother has a mental illness of some sort. »
The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards are Sunday and the nominated stars have probably already decided what they'll wear to the ceremony. However, Rob Lowe - who is nominated for "Behind the Candelabra" - called in to Access Hollywood Live recently, where he proposed what may be the best award show idea ever!
"I may just wear my character's makeup and hair to the actual Golden Globes," he said of his beyond over-the-top Dr. Jack Startz character, who had a face only his plastic surgeon could love.
"Just pop some pills and heckle Tina Fey and Amy ...

The end of 2013 was just the beginning for Tj Thyne and Leah Park! The Boston-born Bones actor proposed to the model outside a German castle on Monday, Dec. 30. The 38-year-old TV star, who plays Dr. Jack Hodgins, documented his proposal in multiple Instagram pictures. "Our walk…our trail," Thyne tweeted. "She Said Yes!!!" One snapshot shows Thyne on bended knee asking for Park's hand in marriage, while another gives a close-up at the bride-to-be's diamond ring. "Bones" actor Tj Thyne plays the oft-romantic Dr. Jack Hodgins on TV, but who knew he was just as sentimental in real life? That became very clear on Monday (Dec. 30), when Thyne proposed to his girlfriend, Leah Park, at a castle in Germany.
The whole event was captured on the couple's Instagram feeds, showing just how ridiculously romantic the whole thing was. Even before Thyne proposed, Park posted a photo of fresh fruit, noting that the vacation made her feel like a princess:
But that was nothing compared to the proposal itself. Having hired professional photographers to capture the moment, Thyne got down on one knee outside of the castle:
He also brought in a fairytale-like coach with white horses:
We should not forget a heart made out of candles to frame the loving couple:
Finally, there is the engagement ring itself, which looks quite lovely in a final photo: »
