The Bachelor Daddy (1922) - Lost Film ?
24 January 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Mine owner Richard Chester ( Thomas Meighan ) is engaged to Ethel McVae ( Maude Wayne ). He is secretly loved, however, by his secretary Sally Lockwood ( Leatrice Joy ). When Richard's mine is threatened by bandits, his foreman Joe Pelton ( J. Farrell MacDonald ) who cares for five motherless children, saves Richard's life but is himself mortally wounded; and his dying request is that Richard adopt his children. Since Richard's fiancée does not agree to the adoption, he places the children in schools except for the baby, who is cared for by Sally. The day before the wedding, Richard and the baby contract mumps, and when Ethel finds Sally nursing them both, she breaks the engagement. Richard gathers the children and plans to be a bachelor daddy, but finding that he needs help, falls in love with Sally and they marry.

The Bachelor Daddy was produced by Famous Players-Lasky Corporation and is now sadly listed as a lost silent film.
