While working in a coffeehouse, Syrian immigrant Anna Ayyob ( Alice Brady ) falls in love with Howard Fisk ( Robert Ellis ) and discovers that her employer "The Baron" ( David Powell ) is involved with Count ( Charles Gerrard ) and Countess Rostoff ( Nita Naldi ) in smuggling jewels. Anna has an encounter with the baron and, thinking she has killed him, disappears. Later, after writing a widely popular novel, Anna again meets Howard and, to save Howard's sister from marrying Count Rostoff, exposes the count and confesses to the baron's murder. Investigation discloses the baron to be alive, Anna and Howard marry.
This 1922 silent melodrama was based on a Broadway play, Anna Ascends by Henry Chapman Ford. The film was produced by Famous Players-Lasky Corporation and starred popular actress, Alice Brady. Sadly all that survives of this film is only a six-minute long fragment.
