Upon the death of little Claudia's mother ( Florence Hart ), artist William Peyton ( Thomas Meighan ) promises to care for the child of the London slums. Back in America, Peyton's fiancée Alice ( Kathlyn Williams ) hears the news and suspects that the waif actually may be Peyton's daughter. Traveling to England, Alice demands that the artist choose between her and his charge. When he refuses to give Claudia up, Alice leaves and marries another. Years pass, Claudia ( Lila Lee ) grows to adulthood, and when Peyton discovers that the love for his ward has blossomed into that of a man for a woman, the two face a happy future together.
This 1920 silent drama was based on the play The Prince Chap by Edward Peple, and produced by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, starring Thomas Meighan, Kathlyn Williams and Lila Lee. The survival status of this film is listed as unknown, sadly suggesting it may now be a lost silent.
