Help Wanted - Male (1920) -- Lost Silent Comedy
7 July 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Leona Stafford (Blanche Sweet) receives a legacy of $1000 and invests it in a scheme to catch a rich husband. After purchasing a new wardrobe, Leona goes to a fashionable resort hotel where she poses as a widow with a mysterious past. She arouses the suspicions of the hotel clerk, a correspondence school sleuth, who suspects that she has kidnapped Captain Cromwell, a wealthy aviator who has been missing for several days. Desperate, Leona appeals for help to Tubbs ( Henry King ), whom she believes to be an idle tramp. Tubbs wins her love before he discloses himself as the missing aviator, causing Leona to heave a sigh of relief that her search for a husband has ended.

This 1920 silent comedy was produced by Jesse D. Hampton Productions and starred the popular actress Blanche Sweet. The film is now listed as unknown, a tragedy for fans of silent cinema. Surviving film stills, show an exquisite Blanche Sweet in various intriguing situations, wearing the latest fashions of the day.
