Storyline

Nancy Lee is a well-bred member of the Virginia aristocracy. Her father forbids her marriage to the man she loves for reasons of social inequality. She consents to marry a wealthy man on her social plane in order to help her family out of difficulty, but he eventually leaves her a desolate widow in New York. Her efforts to extricate herself from this dilemma further subject her to shame, and disaster looms unless the young man she loved can save her. Written by Jim Beaver <jumblejim@prodigy.net>

User Reviews

Norma Talmadge's 22nd feature set in the south

Norma Talmadge plays a Virginia girl who marries a drunkard of her own class (her father forbids her marrying her true love who is not of her class), who leaves her penniless, forcing her to borrow money from her love's embezzling brother. A 35 mm negative of this film is located at the National Film and Television Archive in London, England - the last scene is missing. Thanks to Greta de Groat for her excellent website on Norma Talmadge from which the above is gleaned.
