Marise Jaffrey ( Kathlyn Williams ) a wealthy widow, has been searching fifteen years for her lost daughter, Mary, taken away as an infant by her father, who has since been killed in a train accident. Mary Healey ( Marguerite Clark ) a young woman who has been helping in the search, has just found out she was adopted. Mrs.Jaffrey begins to notice Mary's resemblance to her missing daughter, which leads her to investigate further and discovers that Mary is really her own daughter. Mary then goes to live in the Jaffrey home, but runs away because of the haughtiness of Mrs. Jaffrey's high society friends. Young Henry Martin ( Wallace MacDonald ) comes forward and tells Mrs. Jaffrey of his love for Mary and imminent marriage intentions. Mary's mother and foster mother resolve themselves when they see Mary's happiness over her forthcoming marriage.
Marguerite Clark the popular actress who rivaled Mary Pickford, would only make three more films after A Girl Named Mary. The survival status of this film is listed as unknown.
