Lost Tom Mix Film
17 July 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Jack Kilmeny ( Tom Mix ), the heir to a dukedom, owns a valuable gold mine in the American West with his wayward partner, Curly Brandon ( Jack Nelson ), also from an English family. After Jack fights four men sent to take his claim by Lord Farquar ( Robert Dunbar ), the owner of a British mining company, he falls in love with the Lord's daughter Moya ( Teddy Sampson ), after saving her when his pet grizzly bear disrupts a picnic and frightens her horses, who carry her off in a wagon. Accused of theft when Curly, to please a dance hall girl, dresses in Jack's clothes and robs a man, Jack escapes the sheriff, finds Curly, and convinces him to leave the girl. After returning the money, Jack is permitted to go to his claim, which is threatened by Moya's suitor, Bobyan Verinder ( H. Lounsdale ). Jack arrives to stop Verinder's hired men from attacking Moya. After Curly saves Jack, confesses the theft, and fulfills his ambition to die like a gentleman, Jack and Moya marry.

This 1919 silent drama was based from the novel The Highgrader by William MacLeod Raine, produced by the Fox Film Corporation, starring popular star Tom Mix. Sadly, Fighting for Gold now remains a lost silent film.
