This was arguably the year that Lloyd began to carve out a screen identity for himself and closed in upon Chaplin as a slapstick comedian. Whilst Chaplin had set up his own production company (First National Films) and turned out a handful of films per year, Lloyd was acting in and directing a significant number of short films like this one.
