In Pursuit of Polly (1918) - Lost ?
29 March 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Polly Marsden ( Billie Burke ), the daughter of wealthy cotton broker Buck Marsden ( Frank Losee ), is loved by three men: Talbot Sturgis ( A. J. Herbert ) , Larry O'Malley ( William Davidson ) and O'Leary ( Alfred Hickman ). She becomes engaged to all three, and when her father orders her to make a final decision, she declares that the first suitor to overtake and capture her in her racing car will be her husband. In the course of eluding her pursuers, Polly exchanges clothing with her maid and abandons her car for a boat. Her actions attract the attention both of Emile Kremer ( Ben Deely ), a German spy who has been ordered to deliver a set of documents to a beautiful accomplice, and Colby Mason ( Thomas Meighan ), a United States Secret Service Agent. After a series of adventures involving the three suitors and a gang of spies, Mason arrests Polly, but her father soon arrives to clear her name. Because Mason was the first to "capture" her, Polly declares that she will marry him, and he willingly complies.

This 1918 comedy/drama was produced by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, with filming on location in Oyster Bay and Long Island, New York. Starring Billie Burke and Thomas Meighan, the survival status of In Pursuit of Polly is listed as unknown, sadly suggesting it may now be a lost silent film.
