He is sent for training to England, and then to the front in Ffance, where he is wounded. In the year that Charles Chaplin began his contract with First National Films as writer, director, producer, actor and composer, D.W. Griffith worked as a presenter on 'The Great Love', two years after 'Intolerance' and three years after 'The Birth of a Nation'.
