Popular theme at the time - that of an English "new chum" who finds himself out in Oz for a bit of the old "colonial experience."
Directed by Doogood himself, he also played the "Algie" of the title. One of his co-stars Boyd Irwin was a prolific actor of the period. Doogood was a well-known English vaudeville player who specialised in Charlie Chaplin impersonations.
