Half A Loaf Is Probably Better Than A Whole One
boblipton21 February 2024
Ben Turpin and Rube Miller steal a pair of actors' luggage and papers. They take their victims' places in a small town theater, stink up the joint and set fire to the theater. Also Ben's trunks keep falling down.

Only about half of this Vogue comedy survives, and the copy has numerous flaws, among which I count the lack of comedy. Although a lot of people love him, I don't think Turpin is a particularly interesting comic. Despite a long career, starring in the first known "Murphy Bed" gag, working with Chaplin at Essanay, and appearing in many Mack Sennett comedies, his work fills me with a sense of terror rather than laughter.
