Trivia

Arline Pretty had a close call with death while filming a stunt. She was to grab a rope that was tied to a chimney on the roof of a four-story building, jump out a fourth-floor window and swing across to her lover in the next building. The rope was actually not tied to the chimney--it wouldn't have held her weight--but two stuntmen were to hold it so she would be able to swing across to the next building. The signal for filming to start, which would tell the stuntmen to grab the rope, was when the stunt coordinator yelled "All right". Just before filming was to begin, he yelled down for Pretty to "hold tight". She thought he said "All right", grabbed the rope and jumped out the window--with the rope wrapped loosely around the chimney so it wouldn't fall off. The stuntmen noticed the rope disappearing off the roof and grabbed it; by the time they were able to stop it, Pretty had plummeted all the way down to the first floor and was only a few feet from smashing into the ground, which would very likely have killed her.
