Prudence's ( Gladys Hulette ) social seeking Aunty ( Flora Finch ) tries to get her to marry the self-centered John Astorbilt ( Barnett Parker ), but the young girl refuses his proposal, preferring to have a hero type over a bon vivant. Meeks ( Riley Chamberlain ) the family butler used to tell Prudence tales of pirates that left quite a rebel influence on her, she soon rents an old ship complete with a motley crew of sailors, and makes plans to become a female Blackbeard. For her first act of piracy, she kidnaps her aunt and John and assigns them to hard labour on the ship. The hard labour makes a new man out of John, and when a fire breaks out on board, he rescues Prudence, who was trapped in a below deck cabin. Prudence is very impressed and proud of John's genuine heroism, she now happily trades in her career as a pirate and becomes Mrs. Astorbilt.
