The Lords of High Decision (1916) - Unknown ?
15 September 2016 | by See all my reviews

Important note: This is not a film review. I hope to be able to find and add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist and some presumed lost films are still being discovered. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.

Even though he disapproves of the harshness with which his father, the Colonel ( Joseph Gerard ), treats his employees, Wayne Craighill ( Cyril Scott ) joins the old man's mining business. Adding to the strain between father and son, Wayne soon falls in love with Jean ( Margaret Scervin ), the daughter of a small mine owner whom the Colonel wants to put out of business. Jean insists, however, that she cannot continue the romance, and finally reveals that she is already married. Then, when the Colonel cannot meet his payroll, his workers, who have always hated him, go on a rampage. Wayne convinces the mob not to kill his father, and so they blow up his mines instead. One of the blasts kills Jean's husband, which enables her to return to Wayne, while another strikes oil, thereby replenishing the Craighill family fortune and allowing the Colonel to pay his men.

This 1916 suspense/drama was based from the novel The Lords of High Decision by Meredith Nicholson, produced by The Universal Film Manufacturing Company. The survival status of The Lords of High Decision (1916) is listed in the American Silent Feature Film Database as; No holdings located in archives.
