A Phyllis of the Sierras (1915) - Lost Silent ?
24 August 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

The young Lord Mainwaring ( William Pike ) travels to California from England to regain his health and to attend to business matters for his father. He stays in the Sierras with his father's friend, wealthy lumberjack John Bradley, and falls in love with Bradley's daughter, who nurses him to health. Minty ( Beatriz Michelena ), the blacksmith's untutored, tomboyish daughter, falls in love with Mainwaring. When Mainwaring's letter of proposal to Bradley's daughter never reaches her, he concludes that she has refused him. Having lost all his money, Mainwaring leaves California. Minty's father strikes a gold vein, and years later, the wealthy Minty meets the destitute Mainwaring in Switzerland. After she saves him from death, they fall in love and marry.

This 1915 silent drama was produced by the California Motion Picture Corporation with filming on locations at Boulder Creek, California, starring actress Beatriz Michelena. Sadly, the survival status of this film is now listed as unknown, suggesting it may now be a lost silent.
